Big Peat is a marriage of single malt whiskies from Scotland, from several distilleries on the island of Islay. The spirit of Caol Ila brings freshness, Bowmore the perfect balance, Ardbeg its iodine-rich maritime character, and the grandeur of Port Ellen adds a degree of elegance – Big Peat is everything the Islay style stands for, in a bottle! Nose: the nose starts fresh and clean, with a sense of sea salt, developing into an aroma of peat-dried malted barley, with a damp, earthy character. Palate: just what the name says! Ash, sweet tar and charcoal, sticking plaster, seashore and smoking chimneys – all of them form BIG PEAT. Finish: long and lingering, echoing the palate with salty liquorice, smoke and campfire ash – and above all PHENOLIC.
