The history of the Vietti winery dates back to the 19th century, but only at the beginning of the 20th century did the winery start producing bottled wine. In 1919, Mario Vietti produced the first wines, selling most of his production in Italy. His most significant achievement was the transformation of a large family farm into a winery. In 1952, Alfredo Currado (husband of Luciana - Mario\'s daughter) continued to produce high quality wines from his own vineyards, as well as purchased grapes. The Vietti winery has grown to become one of the best wine producers in Piedmont and was one of the first to export its wines to the United States. Alfredo was the first to start producing wines from individual Crus. In those days, this concept was radical, but today, almost every winemaker creates Barolo and Barbaresco from a separate vineyard. Alfredo is also called the \"father of Arneis\", since in 1967 he devoted a lot of time to researching and understanding this almost forgotten variety. Today Arneis produces the most famous white wine from the Roero region.
