Palari Rocca Coeli Etna Rosso 2015

The Rocca Coeli Rosso DOC Etna is a 100% Nerello Mascalese and is a reserve wine because it matures longer than normal. Nerello Mascalese is often compared to Pinot Noir. Both grape varieties have the special property of translating minuscule differences in terroir into the wine. In addition, the high vineyard for the Rocca Coeli Rosso ensures a temperature difference of 30 degrees between day and night and this special micro climate ensures Burgundy-like wines with great storage potential. The 2015 vintage is the very first vintage of this wine and has already received 96/100 points from wine critic Kerin O'Keefe of the Wine Enthusiast. The combination of the high age of the Nerello Mascalese vineyards, the special volcanic terroir and modern technique makes this a very structured wine, full of smoky volcanic notes. Juicy, but also structured, layered and full of depth.
